Installation of electricity in Logo-Anseba sub-zone facilitating urbanization of several areas

Mekerka, 16 November 2009 - The installation of electricity supply in the semi-urban centers of Mekerka and Deki-Shihay, as well as the villages of Debri, Adi-Hanis, Liban and Adi-Niamin is providing added impetus to the urbanization of the areas.
Institutions like metal works, bakery and bricks factory, as well as petroleum selling shop has already been opened in the areas thanks to the installation of 24-hour power supply service, and that a number of nationals have requested to make investment in these areas.
Mr. Berhe Gebremichael who opened a gasoline center in Mekerka said that the availability of electricity in the area is an encouraging factor for making investment, and that he has plans to construct modern hotel.
The Administrator of Adi-Niamin, Mr. Melake Geberslassie, explained that that the installation of power supply is imperative for getting improved health and education services, as well as reliable potable water supply, which in turn would facilitate the urbanization of the area.
Reports also indicated that there are plans to distribute electricity in certain places of Adi-Niamin where vegetable farming activities are being stepped up so as to save oil consumption and money.
